What To See?
Brompton Regis is ideally placed for visitors to explore and enjoy what Exmoor has to offer and be within easy striking distance of the North Somerset and Devon coastline. It is also only 25 miles from the M5 Motorway so there is no need to travel for miles along country roads to reach us.
If you want to do some shopping then Dulverton, the gateway to Exmoor, is only 5 miles away, Minehead and Tiverton each about 15 miles away and Taunton, the County Town of Somerset, is only a 30 minute car drive away.
Closer to home, there are lots of attractions for the discerning visitor. Wimbleball Lake, which is just down the road, is an ideal stretch of water for keen yachtsmen, canoeists and anglers. The Lake is a large reservoir, about 400 acres in size, with a dam at its southern end which controls the release of water for supply throughout the South West region. It has an outdoor and activity centre for tuition in watersports, a campsite, a children’s play area and a tearoom which is open during the Spring and Summer months.
For ramblers, there are many local walks that can take you through Storridge Woods, around the Lake, up and around Haddon Hill or around the village - all of which provide some stunning scenery. Similarly for horse riders, there are many bridleways that enable you to keep away from the roads and where you can enjoy some peace and quiet interrupted only by the sounds of the countryside.
The village is also well placed for those who want to enjoy or take part in some major events that attract international attention.
For those that like to spend their time touring the area, all of Exmoor National Park is within very easy reach as are the coastline villages of North Devon and Somerset and a visit to Exmoor National Park’s Information Centre in Dulverton is recommended.
We can also recommend Exmoor - The Country Magazine, as a rich source of information, which you can purchase at local stores or view online.
