Litter, parking, anti social behaviour: Bessom Bridge

Over the years many residents have raised concerns with Brompton Regis Parish Council about the negative effects of parking on the roads leading to Wimbleball and particularly on Bessom Bridge. The Parish Council has been in regular communication with the South West Lakes Trust (SWLT), Exmoor National Park Authority (ENPA), the Highways Authority and local Avon and Somerset Police (ASP) teams.

In 2023 the Highways Authority agreed to provide new and clear signage at Bessom Cross to the main SWLT car park and activity centre and the local police team have been making spot checks and patrols in the area. The signage is awaited – in the meantime if anyone is concerned by parking or anti social behaviours on or near the roads to Wimbleball and Bessom Bridge you may wish to raise the issues in the following ways:

– ring the police non emergency number 101 and email the local police team ( ) to report dangerous parking issues, highways issues and alcohol related anti social behaviours
– email SWLT to report concerns on the lakeside:
– email ENPA to report concerns in the area around the lake:
– email BRPC Clerk to report any concerns:
