Support Us

Shop with us
We offer convenience and value for money on your doorstep and shopping with us helps to ensure the shop is here for those who rely on it for a day-to-day basis.

Become a volunteer
Our volunteers are vital to the success of the shop, and we are always looking for new members to join the team. You don’t need to have any experience, just a willingness to get involved.

If you would like to find out more, please call, email or pop into the shop.

Become a shareholder
If you haven’t already done so, become a shareholder of the Village Shop Society. We have more than 150 members and would love you to join us.

There is a one-off payment of £10 per person to become a shareholder, simply download the application form or pick up a copy from the shop and return this with your payment.

This financial support itself is valuable to us but also demonstrates the level of local commitment and helps us to gain grant funding for development and maintenance.

History

The Village Shop was set up in July 2008, following the closure of the Village Stores and Post Office – a victim of the post office closures in that year.

The shop’s first official home was the skittle alley of The George Inn, where it was managed by Trish, the landlady.

In 2012, and with the benefit of National Lottery funding and other grants, the shop moved to its current home at the Village Hall, taking over the snooker room.

Maria Lloyd took over as Shop Manager in March 2020 and much has changed since then.

Maria and husband, Martin, successfully ran their own village shop before moving to Brompton Regis and their retail experience has seen the introduction of a much wider range of products, improved management systems and updated technology.

In 2021, the shop received a much-needed face lift, thanks to a grant from the Somerset Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund. This grant allowed us to increase freezer capacity and create a social space by introducing a coffee machine and outside seating area.
